What is Holistic Arts Therapy?

The Master Practitioner of Holistic Art Therapy is a gentle yet powerful approach that uses making and exploring art — such as drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and symbolic expression — to support emotional wellbeing, insight, and personal growth.

You do not need to be an artist.
Creative arts therapy is not about producing art.

It’s about using creativity as a language for the inner world — especially when words are not enough.

This modality is particularly effective because it:
  • meets people where they are
  • supports nervous system regulation
  • is accessible to all ages and abilities
  • allows for deep work without re-traumatisation
It is widely used in wellbeing, counselling, community, and therapeutic settings.

Yes! You can legally practice as a Holistic Art Therapist with this qualification in Australia, New Zealand and many other countries.
You can join the IICT and get professional insurance.
You do not need to join ANZACATA to practice as a Holistic Art Therapist.

A trauma-aware, ethical approach

All Mind Body Education programs are trauma-aware and ethically grounded

This means you will be trained to:
  • work safely and within clear professional boundaries
  • recognise when referral is required
  • support clients without diagnosing or treating mental illness
  • create sessions that prioritise choice, safety, and respect
You will learn how to facilitate meaningful client-centred, empowering sessions without becoming a rescuer or advisor, protecting both your clients and your own wellbeing.

Study online, at your own pace — with real support

This course is delivered fully online, allowing you to study from anywhere while remaining connected and supported.

You will receive:
  • structured online learning modules
  • guided activities and practical exercises
  • live and recorded support sessions
  • clear assessment guidelines
  • access to a supportive learning community
Most students study part-time, integrating learning gently into their existing lives.

What you’ll learn

Throughout the training, you’ll develop:
  • A strong foundation in holistic counselling principles
  • Skills in using creative processes therapeutically
  • Session structure and facilitation skills
  • Ethical practice and professional boundaries
  • Client support techniques suitable for wellbeing settings
  • Confidence in working one-on-one or in groups
You will graduate knowing not just what to do — but how and why to do it safely and professionally.

Holistic Art Therapy

Holistic Art Therapy emphasizes the importance of the mind-body connection and recognizes that creativity can be a powerful tool for self-expression and exploration.

Through various art mediums and techniques, clients are encouraged to tap into their inner wisdom and unlock their innate healing potential. By engaging in the creative process, individuals can gain insights, release emotions, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

The Holistic Art Therapist creates a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without the fear of being judged or misunderstood. Instead of imposing solutions, the therapist guides the client in discovering their own solutions and empowering them to take ownership of their healing journey.

By fostering self-awareness and self-compassion, Holistic Art Therapy enables clients to break free from limiting beliefs and patterns, leading to a greater sense of fulfillment and well-being. The process of creating art becomes a form of meditation, allowing the mind to quieten and the soul to speak its truth.

As clients gain confidence in their creative expression, they also gain confidence in facing life's challenges, making positive changes, and embracing their authentic selves. In the journey of Holistic Art Therapy, clients find not only healing but also a renewed sense of purpose and joy.

Through self-discovery and creative exploration, clients learn to harness their inner strengths and resources to live more authentically and harmoniously. The ultimate goal is to empower individuals to live their lives with intention, resilience, and a deep sense of connection to themselves and the world around them.
